Featheryank
Gustav Perman, going by the alias of Featheryank, is a composer, artist and multi-instrumentalist within the genres of Ambience, EAM and Noise Wall, his first project taking inspiration from the classic Japanese ambient composers such as Hiroshi Yoshimura and Susumu Yokata, with compositional influences from romantic classical music. Featheryank focuses on the relationship between human and his biological surroundings, and creates compositions by collaborating with the surrounding environment.
In the creative process, different sensor devices manipulate recordings of forests, beaches and meadows to set the backdrop for the pieces. Overlayed are bird songs, percussive elements from foley and FM synthesis.
The first single named The Dust Has Come to Stay, is an homage to Spring and heavily inspired by the naturalist film Paris, Texas by Wim Wenders. On August 4th 2023, the debut album Vinter till Vår released, featuring 11 compositions all based on nature recordings.
This autumn, the second album, titled Höst, releases on bandcamp and on cassette. The album is a counteralbum to the debut, and features experimental noise wall works based on the sound of trains, highways and construction sites.
